pre season detail

The new season has started  19 attended the first training session on Wed 30 July at Cherryvale and we got to welcome Michael Kane.. Mark hamilton and Roger Theis as well as Gary Hunter into the club.  These 4 players and the other 3 that I hope to see next week will give the necessary experience and edge to our game to push for honours this season.   Ciaran (Lofty) Mc Cartan should be back soon so the panel will be complete.  We said that two nights training will be mandatory for at least pre season and into the early Sept days. THIS SEEMS TO HAVE FALLEN ON DEAF EARS as our second training session on Tuesday 5th  saw only 10 players to show. Even allowing for holidays this was a big big blow to preparations and of course will NOT BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE. OUR FIRST GAME V VISION  @ CHERYVALE ON SAT 2ND AUG SAW 18 PLAYERS GET AT LEAST 50 MINS COMPETATIVE FOOTBALL. IN A VERY CONVINCING 5-1 WIN  WHICH SAW GARY HUNTER IMPRESS WITH TOUCH AND PASSING  PAUL BRADY AGAIN ON THE SCORE SHEET AND LAZIO ALSO CRACKING IN ONE.AND SETTING UP G HUNTER FOR HIS DEBUT GOAL  Man of the Match was undoubtedly Conor McCormack who grabbed two. Holidays are going to interfere badly as players go off at different times  training schedules for the coach are impossibly difficult as personnell change by the week.  For the first time in the history of this proud club we have for the 3rd time had to pull out of a fixture due to lack of interest.  This situation is being tackled as we write so that it NEVER occurrs again.

Subs are being collected now and each member is to contribute each Sat whether present or not . Anyone falling 3 times in arrears must stand down until all subs are paid.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR 07-08The names of those prizewinners are known now and when everyone is back we will have a  presentation at Relish on Lisburn Road . Guests are welcome  3 course  meal with wine or beer is only £10.  Please book soon, you can have whatever guests you wish  BUT let me have numbers as soon as possible and we will hold our BIG night as soon as the holidays are all taken. Invitation

An invitation has come in for a weekend camp in Donegal with two friendlies dates either 22nd aug to 24th aug  ( friday pm to sunday)  or 29th to 31 aug  (again friday pm to Sunday).   If sufficient numbers interested it would be an ideal pre season.

PRE SEASON DETAIL CONTINUED

The blank week scheduled for next week is now noved to wc 16th Aug to 25th Aug to facilitate holidays.  next week Training is Monday and Wednesday both at 6.30 both at Cheryvale.  There are no matches scheduled yet for next week. Blank week  16th Sat to 25th Monday  Training resumes Tuesday 26th August 08 @ Cherryvale  6-30 and Wed   27th Aug 08 Match on Sat 30th Augo8 Intensive training  starts  Monday 2nd Sept # league opener SAT 7thSept @ Blanchflower Ko 2-00.
